Live in Jakarta is an opportunity to learn humanity well. As we knew Jakarta is a metropolitan city accompanied by multy complicated problems. Since traffic jam popular for long time ago, no complete solution handled them. So do mass transportation, criminality, and flood.
People live stresful event everyday. My neighbour, I share wall with, is one of the example. No day without screaming, crying and harsh words express by this family. Living cost have burdened them and created stressful day and day, still the mother is a single mother. All have made me practicing relaxation course every day.
I understood that. I have prepared and trained well to compromise situations. I am a nurse. I practiced empathic. Nursing philosophy and values responded automatically whenever and whereever. However, discussing empathic, I feel my empathetical response should be developed. Developing emphatic mean learning directly in the real unplanned situation.
Learning about life and the values need nothing just that life itself. I found that yesterday. I felt completely alike Jakarta citizen. I traped in tight mass transportation, enjoying happiness in mall, stuck in traffic jam and finally my rent room got flooded.
Arriving home on evening, I was shocked by waters filled my room. All of my property nearly wet. Fortunately my niece saved few. Books, hard disc, wires and everything wet soaked in flood. Remember my spiritual guru, I smiled, thanked to God. This I wanted, didn't I. Learning about life and empathic should experiencing it self. And I get it today, I spoke with my self.
Hours I spent to clean my room, rewash clothes, dry book, and save anything it could be save. I really surpraise to my neighbor. Life challenges have made them thoughtful to face the situation. Hand on hand they dry floor and clean room. Briefly they finished everything, beside, I am confusing to do everything.
I feel lucky experincing this. This sudden flood, relay unplanned and unpredictable situation. Event run well to teach me something about life, to learn humanity and emphatic.
I found that people respond automatically to their actual situation well. This automatic responses are build by recurring event they faced. They handled flood more efficient then I did because of experience. Experience is a potential that should be assessed in nursing care. People always have potential. Poverty should not be blamed as scapegoat of unsuccessful nursing care. My experience is one of the fact.
There always ways out for every creature to make them live well.
