Ice Lake Found on Mars

U.S. space agency, NASA,recently found an ice lakethe soil dries below the planetMars. The lake ice containscarbon dioxide is greater than thatscientists previously estimated. The remaining material was carbon dioxidesuspected by scientists from the formerlayer of the atmosphere of Mars in the pastwhenRedplanet that has conditionsconducive to life."It's really a treasure," said JeffreyPlaut, a scientist who worked inNASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, inreport that appears in the journal Science,Pravda.ru quoted, Saturday, April 232011."Wefound something under the groundwhich was never recognized by anyonebefore, "said Plaut. This finding was first arrested byradar observations from NASA's, MarsReconnaissance Orbiter, which flew inabove the surface of Mars. This space radaris a specially created radarto find out clues signslife on Mars. The lake ice measuring 3,000 kilometerscubic, or the equivalent volume of LakeSuperior. Heaccommodate a very large carbon dioxide,up to two times the mass of the Martianatmosphere. Ifcompared with Earth, the Martianatmospherehasa surface pressure of less than 1percent. And, about 95 percent of airMars is carbon dioxide, compared toEarth has only 0.04 percent of CO2."We already know that there are carbondioxide above the rest of the small icesurfaceMars. But, this one 30 times its volumefold more than expectedbefore, "said Roger Phillips, scientistAnother comes from the Southwest ResearchInstitute in Colorado and also servedas the deputy team leader for the MarsradarReconnaissance Orbiter.
